Glycemic Index Ltd

Glycemic Index Ltd is a not-for-profit company formed by the University of Sydney, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and Diabetes Australia, which is committed to promoting and contributing to the prevention and management of overweight/obesity, diabetes and other chronic lifestyle-related conditions, through healthier, low-GI diets. At the heart of GIL is the GI Symbol Program, a food labelling program designed to help consumers choose healthy foods that will also lower the average GI of their diets, by providing GI information on food products that meet the strict nutrient content criteria (consistent with the dietary guidelines) within their appropriate food category

Mossman Central Mill Company Limited

Mossman Central Mill Company Limited was founded in 1894 and first commenced raw sugar manufacturing in 1897. Situated in picturesque Far North Queensland, Mossman Mill crushes on average 500,000 to 600,000 tonnes of sugar cane each season. In early 2000, Mossman Mill made a commitment to pursue value-adding opportunities in the production of raw sugar and its by-products from sugar cane. In 2004 Mossman Mill joined forces with Dr David Kannar and Dr Barry Kitchen from Horizon Science to commence working on the development and production of the world's first natural low GI cane sugar. In 2007, Mossman Mill commissioned a state-of-the-art bagging plant and became the first HACCP accredited primary sugar mill in Queensland. This has enabled the Mill to supply food grade raw sugar to domestic and international markets. During the 2008 crushing season, the world’s first commercial production of a 100% natural low GI cane sugar commenced at Mossman Mill in Far North Queensland, Australia.
